「有職畳」は貴族や高官が位を表現するために畳の厚みや縁の色、柄を決めたものです。現在は、神社仏閣などで使われている神座、拝敷きなどの置き畳として残っております。当店は1924年に墨田区で創業し、現在三代目。長い伝統に培われた技術と新しい素材の特徴を活かして、有職畳だけでなく今の時代のニーズにフィットした製品も作っております。

Ceremonial tatami mats, Komiya Tatami

“Ceremonial tatami mats” used to distinguish the ranks of nobles and high rank officials by the thickness of the tatami and the colors and the designs of the edges. Nowadays they are still used in Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples as special tatami platforms called “kamiza.” Our store was founded in 1924 in Sumida Ward and I am the third generation. Using skills developed in a long tradition and newly developed materials, I produce not only ceremonial mats but also items which adjust to the present needs.
